FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long does a residence permit take?

In a straightforward case the migration office decides within 30 days of a complete filing, and card production adds one to two weeks. Family reunification and business-based permits can take up to 60 days because a second authority reviews the file. We tell you the realistic window for your specific case at the free consultation, before you commit.

What happens if my application is refused?

Refusals almost always come from a missing or mis-formatted document, which is exactly what our review is designed to prevent. If a refusal does happen on a file we prepared, we appeal or re-file at no extra service charge — you only cover the state fee again. You keep the full written reason for the decision in either case.

How do renewals work?

A one-year permit is renewed annually, and after a continuous period you become eligible for a five-year card. We set a reminder 60 days before your expiry date and, because your file is already with us, the renewal needs far fewer documents than the first application.

Can I bring my family?

Yes. Once your own permit is approved, your spouse and children under 18 can apply for family reunification permits tied to your status. It is a separate application with its own documents, which is why we quote it as its own package rather than hiding it in the price.

Do I become a tax resident in Albania?

You are treated as an Albanian tax resident if you spend more than 183 days in the country in a calendar year, or if your centre of vital interests is here — holding a permit alone does not create that obligation. We flag how your case looks and, when it matters, hand you over to our accountants rather than guessing.

Can I work with a residence permit?

It depends on the type. A work-based permit allows employment with the sponsoring employer, a self-employment permit covers your own registered activity, and a family or study permit may restrict paid work. We confirm exactly what your permit allows in writing, so you never find out at the wrong moment.
