Sazan Island is beautifully located where the Adriatic and Ionian Seas merge smoothly. The entire marine area here is part of the Karaburun-Sazan Marine Park. Sazan is not only a beautiful beach destination, but also inspires legends and tales about its history. Old legends tell of fierce battles for this coveted territory, and the island’s secret bays were used by pirates to hide stolen loot. With its mysterious history and abundance of beauty, Sazan remains a place that must be experienced first-hand.
The fresh emerald waters of the Karaburun Peninsula invite you to dive in, while the fine white sand is ideal for sunbathing. Unspoilt, jagged beaches dot the entire landscape of Karaburun. What makes it even more impressive is the area known as the Karaburun Balcony, which extends over its ridges. Jagged cliffs descend to caves and slopes of rock formations above Dafina Beach or Bitri Beach.
Caves are a typical feature of this peninsula, one of the most famous is Hadji Ali, the largest sea cave in Albania, which used to serve as a shelter and anchorage for ships. It contains a calm lake surrounded by stalactites and stalagmites. The name of this cave is associated with the name of the sailor Hadji Ali.
